What is a PDO Thread Lift or PDO Volumizing

How Does it Work?
Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are a special medical grade thread that is thinner than hair, made of protein. Research has confirmed that PDO causes a reaction that improves the blood flow to the area stimulating new collagen formation. It also stimulates elastin and hyaluronic acid, both substances are key to maintaining firm, youthful looking skin. Once the thread itself resorbs, the area that it was has built a “scaffold” of new and healthy tissue.

What Happens During Treatment?
Lidocaine injection applied to the entry points following which threads are introduced into the skin through a fine needle- into either the skin itself, just to build volume and collagen or along an area of laxity to lift and pull the area. Which treatment is done is based on your consultation with the physician and options are endless. The treatment results in an immediate improvement in appearance but the results will improve over many days and weeks as the PDO stimulates collagen. The appearance of the skin improves in terms of overall texture, becoming thicker, tighter and firmer as fine lines and wrinkles are reduced.

PDO smoothing threads use the same technology to improve the look of your face, but with more gradual changes in mind. The threads are placed in a hashtag formation under areas of the skin where smoothing is desired. Over the next 4 to 6 months, the skin will smooth out gradually as your body reacts to the treatment and naturally builds more collagen under the skin. These smoothing threads are most useful in improving the looks of acne scarring, and areas like under the chin or the neck that may require more collagen buildup for a more youthful appearance.
